Chantry's Barn

Welcome to Chantry's Barn

Accommodation
The barn sleeps two to four people, plus a cot if required.  There is a double/twin bedroom with en suite shower room and WC, separate main bathroom, with shower over the bath and WC, all downstairs.  Upstairs there is a comfortable double sofa bed.  Duvets, bed linen for adult beds and towels included, but please bring your own beach towels and cot bedding if required. A stair gate can be provided if required – please ask.

Living room and kitchen
The main living room is upstairs, with big squishy sofas and incorporates the fully fitted kitchen with hob, ovens, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle and toaster.  The table seats six people, and in addition to the six chairs there are two folding wooden chairs for any extra guests.  A highchair is available if needed.  A stair gate can be supplied if required.  The large opening windows have wooden safety guard rails.

This is a comfortable space to spend evenings and days when the Moor or sea doesn’t beckon.  The barn has full central heating included in the rental price, so whatever the weather outside you can be warm as toast inside!

Also included is TV with DVD player, stereo CD and radio equipment and a selection of CDs and DVDs (or do bring your own choice).  If you want to just switch off from the outside world, there is a good range of books, including novels, a selection of Dartmoor books and guides, some reference books (including a dictionary to sort out Scrabble ‘discussions’!), board games, playing cards, etc.

Also available is a washer/dryer machine tucked away in the hall cupboards.  If bicycles are your mode of transport, we can store these safely for you in the locked garage.

Garden
Outside there is a small slate paved area and pretty south facing garden next to the leat which visitors are welcome to use.

Dogs
A well behaved dog is welcome, but visitors should note the Dartmoor National Park requirements that all dogs should be on a lead or under close control during the lambing and bird nesting season, 01 March to 31 July.  Also, many West Country beaches do not allow dogs between 01 May and 01 October.  These constraints do not stop lots of us down here enjoying the countryside with our dogs!  To maintain the barn in the state in which you would expect to find it, we ask that dogs are not allowed in the bedroom or on the furniture, also that they must never be left in the barn unsupervised.
