From the north/east:
If you are travelling on the A30, join the M5 southbound at Junction 29.
If you are on the M5, carry on to Junction 31.
For both routes above, at Junction 31 take the A30 westbound, towards Bodmin and Okehampton. Approx. 18 miles to turn of – first sign (½ mile away): Moretonhampstead A382, Torrington & Winkleigh (A3124); second sign: Sticklepath and other nearby villages, third sign: as first, with Services added. Drive through the village of Whiddon Down. At the mini roundabout go straight on, towards Sticklepath and South Zeal (don’t take the Moretonhampstead road). Continue on this road for about 3 miles, when you will arrive in Sticklepath village.
Chantry’s Barn can be found on the left hand side of the main street, approximately 25 metres after the Devonshire Inn, when travelling from Exeter direction. A pair of white gates next to the bus lay by open on to the garden of both our cottage and Chantry’s Barn.
From the south/west:
If you are on the A386, join the A30 at Sourton Cross heading east, towards Okehampton and Exeter. Once on the A30, take the second exit for Okehampton on B3260. (You will then also see a brown sign for the Finch Foundry and camping/caravaning.) (First exit is also labelled Okehampton B3260 – do not take this one.)
Turn right from the exit slip road T-junction, towards Sticklepath and services. You will cross over the A30 bridge, and the road bends left to Sticklepath. In just under 1½ miles you will reach Sticklepath village. Drive into the centre of the village and on your right, just after the pink painted Methodist chapel you will see a lay by. The gates of our cottage and Chantry’s Barn open on to the lay by.
Sticklepath by bus:
From Exeter bus station you can take an X9 or 510 bus which will bring you right to the centre of Sticklepath. These normally run around seven times a day – although only twice on Sundays and bank holidays.
Please ask us for current bus times.
From Plymouth, buses run to Okehampton, and there is then a frequent service from Okehampton to Sticklepath most days. Please ask for details.
